Roman Holiday wardrobe

Traveling exclusively with carryon luggage in the winter, is a far greater challenge than summer packing. Obviously, sweaters and long pants take up far more space than swimsuits and sundresses, but temperatures and precipitation can be much more unpredictable and I like to be prepared for whatever comes my way. Add a couple of festive holidays to the mix, and the task of selecting the correct garments to fill the limited space of a small piece of luggage, becomes a genuine art.

So? What am I bringing?

My packing list is as follows:

  • A pair of jeans
  • A pair of corduroys
  • Long black sequin skirt
  • Floral maxi dress
  • Vegan leather shacket
  • Lightweight down hooded coat
  • 2 long sleeved cotton t-shirts (white & cream)
  • A sparkly turtleneck
  • 2 merino wool pullover sweaters (navy & black)
  • 1 short sleeved merino sweater that doubles as a vest
  • 1 ruched top
  • Political t-shirt
  • Leggings/tank tops for sleeping
  • Tights/under garments/socks
  • Blue suede Adidas, black heeled booties and black Doc Marten Chelsea boots
  • Evening bag, black belt, and a scarf or two

For the trip, I’ll wear comfortable vegan leather pants, a tank top with a denim button down, that fabulous brown fleece coat and brown Docs and a brown belt.

As I look over this list, I see items that I can eliminate, if necessary. Like that second pair of Doc’s, for instance. They’re probably not coming.

I think I’m going to be ok, though, for space. Little tricks like placing socks in shoes for packing and tightly rolling garments, really allows for the maximization of precious space in luggage.

And this is not my first rodeo, people.

Although, it is my first time flying Norse Atlantic Airlines and I hear they’re really strict about baggage size and weight. I’m already a teeny bit uptight about this flight, since the uber cheap tickets I have limit check in to in person, starting 4 hours preflight.

It’s all going to be fine – and my wardrobe will be fabulous. ✈️🇮🇹🧳❤️

  1. consider using compression bags to save space. They don’t change the weight but they do save space and they’re a great way to isolate dirty laundry on the way home.
