Just another day in America yet, somehow, since it’s the day before my students return to their classrooms after summer break, the latest school shooting in the United States is hitting me hard.
Why do we tolerate this?
Why do we allow our government to do nothing?
Why have we given organizations like the NRA permission to arm people with weapons that have made death from firearms the leading cause of death in children and teens in the U.S.?
Why have normalized teaching children how to hide in their schools from shooters?
I’m so tired of it that I’m becoming numb.
What are we doing to our children? When will we finally say enough?
