The richness of Poor Things

So? Have you seen it??

Did you read the book which inspired the Yorgos Lanthimos film?

Am I late to the game of discussing Poor Things?

We saw it yesterday afternoon at the Spectrum. And, it was fantastic. Generally, I like a 90 minute movie. Poor Things clocked in at 2:20 and I loved just about every minute of it. My only issue was the graphicness of the sex surgical procedures.

I just can’t look at blood and gore.

This small criticism aside, everything on the screen was captivating. The Steampunk vibe, incredibly colored skies, and fabulously sleeved garments, were all mesmerizing. My girl, Emma Stone, was a revelation. She’s so frigging amazing – as were Mark Ruffalo and Willem Dafoe. Watching her character, Bella, becoming increasingly more comfortable in her body, in every way imaginable, was inspirational.

Tell me. What did you think?

  1. It is my personal opinion that Emma Stone is great at the vast majority of roles she plays as an actress. Also, on a related note, both my wife and I think that she’s very attractive as well. πŸ™‚

    1. Many years ago, a student loaned me his copy of β€œEasy A” because he said I reminded him of Emma Stone. Obviously, he was a favorite! ☺️. PS. You MUST see the film.
