MAGA lies

As the political climate in this country has accelerated to violent and catastrophic levels, I’ve found myself confronting a consistent array of right wing talking points seemingly designed to justify the actions of the immoral and racist regime pulling the strings from what is left of the White House.

After reading and hearing these falsehoods on repeat for months, I remain astounded at the ignorance of those shouting these lies in the face of evidence which clearly refutes their truth.

My only conclusion is that those who believe the idiot in chief and his Nazi henchmen, do so because they value their beliefs more than they do facts. If witnessed actions do not support what they choose to believe, then actual reality is suspect.

They prefer to be told what to believe because it justifies and excuses their behavior towards those MAGAts consider to be “other,” be they POC, the poor, members of the LGBTQ+ community or immigrants.

Below are the lies I currently frequently encounter on social media, particularly in the comments on news stories that I need to refrain from reading.

1. Protestors are paid agitators. As a person who has participated in protests and demonstrations for more than 45 years, I’ve yet to receive any compensation for my presence. I don’t know anyone who has received more than a baked good or a hot coffee while standing in unity against injustice or the actions of the government.

Please just stop with this bullshit.

2. Renee Good ran over the man who eventually killed her causing internal injuries to him. Please, for the love of God, look at the video evidence that completely refutes this ridiculous claim.

Please just stop with this bullshit.

3. Demonstrators have been actively and intentionally creating volatile situations. There are numerous examples of peaceful gatherings that have devolved into chaos because of the overly aggressive actions of ICE agents. I have seen far too many videos and images of ICE ghouls breaking windows, manhandling people, administering toxic and dangerous chemicals at close range and generally terrorizing people.

Please just stop with this bullshit.

4. Alex Pretti brought a gun to a protest because he planned to use it to kill DHS employees. There is zero evidence of this and at no time did Alex Pretti threaten anyone with his licensed and legally owned weapon. When the two ICE agents unloaded their weapons to execute him, Alex wasn’t in possession of his gun because it had already be removed from his holster by “authorities.”

Please just stop with this bullshit.

5. ICE agents are merely performing their duties as dictated by their superiors and within the scope of their assignments. No, these gestapo in everything but name folks are an undertrained and overarmed militia answering to Stephen Miller, Kristi Noem and Donald Trump. Eventually these masked and soulless people will suffer the consequences of their actions.

Please just stop with this bullshit.

6. The left are intentionally creating martyrs to justify their radical and violent behavior against law enforcement representatives. The only people who wanted Renee Good and Alex Pretti dead were the ICE agents who killed them.

Please just stop with this bullshit.

7. The left needs the illegal votes of the illegal people to win elections. Minnesota is never giving up their voting records to disprove this lie, (Fuck you, Pam Bondi et al) but most intelligent and basically educated people understand that non residents cannot vote. Period.

Please just stop with this bullshit.

The level of fear, distrust, and rage that the current administration has sowed will eventually come back to them, perhaps as soon as midterm elections. Regardless of when things swing back to a place less violently insane, my personal promise remains – I will never knowingly share air with anyone who supports the current administration, believes ICE is justified in its use of force and who uses the terms “illegals” and “heritage Americans.”

I will hold on to this vow as tightly as I do to a cardboard protest sign in a gale.
