It’s been quite the month for the present federal government, hasn’t it? Between the on again – off again war with Iran, the brazen and unchecked corruption of the Trump crime family which continues to expand its wealth at the expense of investors and the ignorant, the lack of oversight of the nation’s food supply and the continued militarization of the DOJ, we are swimming in a sea of shit.
And sometimes, I’m afraid that I’m drowning.
I think what is causing me to feel the most anxious about all of this (and more) are the comments I read on stories about the latest ICE executions. I find myself aghast at the thought that I live in a place where people believe that undocumented immigrants deserve to die, sometimes even in the street with their young children as witnesses.

Are these real people? What caused them to have such bitterness against immigrants and to feel absolute glee at their deaths at the hands of people who are supposed to secure borders, not assassinate the innocent?
Who are they and how can I continue to reside in a nation that is seemingly filled with them?

I’m struggling to comprehend how individuals who have come to this country to better themselves and their families, like my own, are a larger threat to life than a border czar who has gone on record as promising more bloodshed if democrats don’t shut up about what is happening.
Can anyone tell me how a 26 year-old father on his way to work is a greater potential menace than an unelected government official who has gone on record to say that left wing political terrorism is a cancer that must be rooted out at all cost?
Do people truly believe that Americans who are asserting their constitutional rights are more of threat than the officials who are doing their best to deny them these very same rights?
I don’t understand it and the only explanation I can come up with is incredibly distressing.
We live in a racist, white supremacist country and the current leaders will do anything they can to retain their power and wealth.
What can we do?
- Call your elected representatives and demand the immediate dissolution of ICE.
- Continue to remain informed about government actions – locally, nationally and globally.
- Support organizations that are working to protect and support residents, documented and otherwise.
- Understand that, despite the despicable comments made on social and online media sites, there are more good people in this country than bad. There have to be.
- Speak up and document instances when you witness injustice.
- For the love of god, your country, your family – VOTE. November is coming and MAGA is afraid. They will try to retain their power (see J6 for example) by any means necessary. Election Day* is 11/3/26. See you at the polls.
*Funny thing – my iPhone always showed Election Day in blue on the calendar. This year there’s no notification on the actual date. Weird.

Yes, you DO understand it. It just isn’t wasn’t we wanted America to be. It makes me sad/angry/trying not to be in despair.
So your solutions are correct.
