I’m sorry…

…that the country where I live is so selfish that far too many people care for no one beyond themselves.

…that far too few people in the country where I live are aware of the Sumud Flotilla and it’s attempt to deliver critical aid to Palestine.

…that the government of Israel is run by a criminal who rivals our very own felonious president.

…for anyone who struggles to understand this series of maps and why the expansion of Israel is considered to be an occupation by many people.

…that I didn’t bring a second trash bag on my garbage picking walk down the yellow brick road this afternoon.

…about my sense of being overwhelmed yesterday when I sought an adult indulgence and requested something-that would-help-me-forget-that-I-presently-live-in-a-country-that is-too-self-obsessed-to-see-that-more-than-20,000-children have-been-wiped-off-the-earth-in-Gaza-and-that-we-are financing-it-because-we-are-a-war-based-economy-and-our country-is-imploding-and-no-one-here-gives-a-shit-that-a flotilla-of-50-boats-with-people-from-more-than-40-countries-was-currently-getting-intercepted-by-the-Israeli-military?

(How does one atone for the deaths of 20,000+ children?)

(What can I ingest for that?)

…that this country is so pathetically complacent while people around the world are demonstrating against their governments and the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

I’m sorry and I mean it.

May the new year be better for everyone.
