Radio over

I don’t listen to radio very much anymore. Ever since my car radio tragically refused to abandon the AM band, I’ve become adept at playing either music or an audiobook from my phone via an aux cord.

Techie, I’m not.

There was a recent morning spent helping my kid manage his cat’s vet visit for neutering, getting him to work and then resolving the issue with his phone with a visit to the Verizon store where we opted to replace all four phones on the plan. No small feat. There was color selection and account verification and a steady stream of additional options and benefits available and finally getting the final number on how much the “free” devices were costing us, all to be endured

It was a lot.

I left my phone for about an hour at the phone store as they transferred my stuff to the new device. During that time I drove around delivering the phones to the family plan members as if I were the Phone Fairy.

As I drove between the Lillys, ferrying iPhones, I listened to the radio. Specifically the local public radio station, WAMC. The news was, without exception, horrible. A young couple gunned down in the city where they worked in a heinous attack against a people, instead of a government. The jet the president has decided to accept as a gift from a country implicated in the terrorism that took down the Twin Towers. And a huge piece of legislation, seriously titled the “Big Beautiful Bill (BBB),” is on its way to the Oval Office where Herr Trump will gleefully sign it with the blood of the poor.

The BBB contains narcissistic initiatives such as providing new babies with $1000 in Trump bank accounts. Between Trump and his dodgy DOGE dude, Elon, haven’t there been enough babies born? I’m surprised Musk hasn’t gotten involved in banking himself. You know, like a sperm bank so he can continue to expand the reach of his seed. How many offspring does he have? With how many women?

These are the people Christians admire and place their trust in?

Why is money being given to new mothers in accounts with Donald Trump’s name on them? And – who do you think clued the piece of shit Republicans who voted “yes” to this piece of shit bill, that maybe, just maybe, they shouldn’t call these government funded accounts MAGA accounts?

How about this sweet nugget:

The proposal approved in the House would slash $1.7 trillion in government spending to pay for the renewal of the tax cuts from Trump’s first term, which largely benefited corporations and the wealthy. Some of the largest cuts would come from Medicaid, the popular government health insurance program that covers more than 70 million lower-income Americans. House Republicans also agreed on significant changes in eligibility to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), commonly known as food stamps, which helps more than 40 million Americans buy groceries every month. Both programs are disproportionately used by women and children.*

Just like there’s no bottom when it comes to Trump and his sycophant followers, there’s no basement as low as the depth where MAGAt’s are attempting to take the poor and immigrants and refugees and those who personally identify in a way that uninvolved people have a problem with?

Rest assured : they’re coming for all of us.

This government is doing its best to rid American society of “those” people either by denying them the essentials of life or physically removing them from the country.

The current** trend folks on Instagram are posting titled “Propaganda I’m not falling for” and the Adam Gidwitz book that I recently listened to, Max in the Land of Lies, with its characterization of WWII propagandist, Joseph Goebbels, have left me unable to stop thinking…

How is this happening?

What is actually going on?

Are the people I voted for, who assured me they would stand up for my interests and the interests of the community they are being paid to represent, really going to let this fiasco of fuckery continue?

  1. I can’t like this..as anything that mentions the current POTUS just makes me want to throw up.

  2. A whole bunch of us Christians believe that FOTUS is a charlatan and the antipathy of Christlike behavior..
