How are you doing? How close are you to feeling great? As for me, I feel as if I am perpetually in a state of high anxiety. I can’t seem to focus my thoughts or attention on a single thing because I am being constantly assaulted by news articles relating the most recent ridiculous, incompetent or offensive action taken by the current regime.
It is insane.
Here are a few stories which I find deeply disturbing:
● Turkish student at Tufts detained
● Potential compensation to J6 rioters
● Attacks on judges and the judicial branch of government
● An increase in countries issuing travel warnings about the U.S.
● Proposed mass layoffs in the Department of Health & Human Services
● Dismantling the Department of Education and eliminating programs that help to provide teachers to underserved schools
● The cancellation of $12 billion in federal health grants to states
● The defiance of the Trump administration in deporting hundreds of immigrants despite a court order
● And, of course, the complete and utter failure of the Trump cabinet in maintaining the security of the U.S. when they invited a journalist to join their chat on an app (which the Pentagon discourages employees from using) and then proceeded to share classified information.
This country is quite literally coming apart at the seams and I’m not sure how much more it (or I) can absorb. If you’re inclined to speak out, there are a couple of upcoming opportunities for you to join like minded people to express your First Amendment right to free speech.
First up, this Saturday at Colonie Center there will be a gathering dubbed a Tesla Takedown. Despite what the idiot in chief claims, protesting outside a Tesla dealership or charging station does not make one a “domestic terrorist,” merely a person who does not support the actions of the world’s richest man.
On April 5th nationwide protests are planned in an event dubbed “Hands Off.” I really believe this day of action has the potential to turn the tide and send the kind of signal I can wholeheartedly support. You know I’ll be downtown, sign in hand, to demonstrate. Join me?
Here’s the real problem: you could have posted thrice as many and it wouldn’t have been sufficient. The arrogance of the Treasury Secy and Muskrat re our Social Security; the wrecking of the Smithsonian – you know the score…
It’s exhausting
