When Saturday shines and Sunday sparkles

A fantastic weekend doesn’t necessarily have to be anything fancy. In fact, a collection of simple moments strung together over the course of 48 hours or so can completely define a great weekend. While the weather may have been The luxury of not leaving the house for my usual Saturday morning errands and yoga and instead making a batch of granola, baking a pound cake and mopping both bathroom floors. The house smelled great and my small accomplishments left me feeling satisfied and in a positive place for my Sunday day off.

Work being quiet, yet wildly entertaining, as I never knew what sort of precipitation I’d see falling when I peeked out the front door of the restaurant. The change from rain to sleet to snow to rain was enough to cause whiplash. Spring sure is lively.

The drive home over messy roads serenaded by The Rolling Stones’ Miss You, only to find the city glittering like a crystal jewel box under expressive skies tinged with an unusual shade of soft yellow. It was magical and Albany was Camelot for the night.

The glisten of ice and sky and sunshine that turned an ordinary Sunday into an unforgettable one. Making the choice to walk Jeter, instead of ski, at Muni so I could simply take in the remarkable beauty was the day’s best decision.

Doubling up on yoga classes, with one in the morning and the other in late afternoon, to turn time in the studio into bookends for my active outdoors day.

Finishing Sunday with dinner at our favorite neighborhood spot, Nicole’s.

It was a great weekend.
